  TENNESSEE ASSOCIATION FOR DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION

DUTIES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS

NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON: (appointed by the TNADE President)

  1. Solicit nominations for officers from membership via the winter issue of the TNADE newsletter.
  2. Work with the West, Middle, and East Area Representatives to solicit nominations.
  3. Present the slate of officers for nominations.
  4. Design a ballot or check the ballot currently used.
  5. Distribute ballots and count returns to determine winners.
  6. Inform the TNADE President of winners.
  7. Present winners at the TNADE business meeting.
  8. Attend all Executive Board Meetings.

 POLITICAL LIAISON COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON: (appointed by the TNADE President)

  1. Investigate issues relating to Developmental Education and present those issues and possible solutions to the members of the Tennessee General Assembly.
  2. Give members of THEC, TBR, and the Tennessee General Assembly positive examples of the ways Developmental Education serves students in higher education.
  3. Provide the names of General Assembly members to the TNADE Executive Board members.
  4. Relay information about the TNADE Educator of the Year and the TNADE Student of the Year to members of the General Assembly.
  5. Actions must be approved by the TNADE Executive Board before implementation by the committee.
  6. Attend all TNADE Executive Board Meetings.

 AWARDS COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON: (appointed by the TNADE President)

  1. Send the appropriate forms, with deadlines and pertinent information, to the membership through the TNADE Newsletter.
  2. Communicate with area representatives about nominations.
  3. Receive all nominations for the awards TNADE Educator of the Year and TNADE Student of the Year.
  4. Establish the selection committee for award winners.
  5. Send a biography of each award winner to the TNADE Newsletter Editor immediately after the annual conference or no later than the January Executive Board Meeting.
  6. Attend all TNADE Executive Board Meetings.

 MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON: (appointed by the TNADE President)

  1. As soon as possible following the annual conference, the current membership list should be given to the current TNADE President and President-Elect.
  2. Remind members of renewal dates other than the conference renewal time.
  3. Work with area representatives to solicit membership among educators who do not attend the TNADE Conference.
  4. Provide financial documents to the Past President for review prior to each Executive Committee meeting.
  5. Attend all TNADE Executive Board Meetings.

 CULTURAL DIVERSITY COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON: (appointed by the TNADE President)

  1. Encourage participation of TNADE members from diverse backgrounds.
  2. Work with area representatives to encourage member participation on the committee.
  3. Develop activities to encourage diversity within TNADE.
  4. Identify and apprise the membership of current diversity issues.
  5. Identify and implement at least one activity addressing diversity issues at the TNADE annual conference.
  6. Act as a Cultural Diversity Liaison with NADE.
  7. Attend all TNADE Executive Board Meetings.

ARCHIVIST: (appointed by the TNADE President)

  1. Maintain and collect historical records of TNADE.
  2. Update the notebooks for TNADE Executive Board members.
  3. Attend all TNADE Executive Board Meetings.
