Eboni Carroll
Undergraduate Student MTSU
Pre-Medicine
1) How did you become
interested in math or science field while at high school? Personally,
math and science in high school were two areas of the least interest; however, I
managed to excel in them both. I
was one of the few students who actually looked forward to going to school
everyday and enjoyed all of my classes.
2) Why did you choose to work
in your field? Currently,
I am a pre-med student with the aspirations to pursue a career as a physician in
pediatrics. I chose this career
path because it was the best way to contribute to making a difference in an
individual’s life by diagnosing, treating, and preventing illnesses.
3) What are some areas of
your job that you like the most? During many of the experiences I’ve
had with volunteering and shadowing, I would have to say the area that I liked
the most was the patient to physician interaction, as well as the patient’s
family. Seeing the smiles on their
faces and the confidence that they will get better is truly amazing. It also
defines who you are as an individual and teaches you to be more appreciative,
because many of the young people are very ill but despite their illness they
never complain and are always happy.
4) What one thing would you
tell a middle or high school girl who is considering majoring in STEM in
college? In order to be successful with a STEM major, you must stay
focused and work hard. Any career
involving STEM takes hard work, determination, dedication, and the confidence
that you will succeed. At times it may seem overwhelming, but remember your
purpose in life and know that you are destined to be successful and there is no
better motivation than self motivation, so don’t be discouraged. Seek advice
from mentors and advisors. They are
very beneficial to your career and if anyone needs assistance feel free to
contact me.
4) Please provide a short
biography and a photo. My
name is Eboni Carroll, 19 years of age, born and raised in
5) What is your contact
information? (Phone number or email address)
This is optional.
6) Would you like to
correspond with a high school girl who is interested in entering your field?
Of course, I would love to help.
