Get Active in Regionals
Why should active Adult Learners
Commission members also get involved in their own regions? It's a great
way to get to know colleagues who are in your state and region and with
whom you could collaborate on programs, research, and conference
presentations.
Travel
budget cutbacks may make it difficult for all NACADA members to attend the
national conference each year, but the costs of the regional meetings and
transportation to them are much less. More of your nearby colleagues might
be able to attend your regional meeting than the national.
Therefore,
we encourage you to make plans to attend your regional meeting next spring
and to get involved. You could even serve
as a liaison of the Adult Learner Commission to your region. You could
request time on the regional meeting schedule for a get-together for
colleagues interested in adult learning that you could facilitate.
Regionals
are also a great place to try out a new presentation idea that you have
been considering. There are fewer people attending the regional and you
will be among friends. You can try out your speaking skills in a
non-threatening environment. You can experiment with that new PowerPoint
program! You can try a new way to engage the participants in dialogue.
It's a great place for practicing a presentation that you can then revise
and submit for consideration for the national conference the next fall.
So, plan to attend your regional
meeting in Ottawa on Friday, October 12, 4:15 - 5:30 p.m. You will
then find out all the details about how to get involved in your
region. Then make plans to attend the Regional
Meeting in your region next spring.
