REQUIREMENT
1
Read
through pages 7-11 in the merit badge book and use the information below to
complete requirement 1 on the worksheet.
Answer
the following:
Explain what citizenship in the world means to you and
what you think it takes to be a good world citizen.
These are subjective issues, asking what
citizenship means to you, and what you think it takes to be a good
world citizen. There is not, therefore, a standard "right" answer to these
questions. What matters is that you THINK seriously about these issues and are
able to enunciate well developed answers that are meaningful to you.
In thinking about these issues, here are some links you read through. You may or
may not agree with some/all of the ideas expressed in these articles, but, taken
together, they raise the types of issues you should be thinking about in writing
your answer for this requirement.
Look up the formal definition
of “citizenship” in the Merriam-Webster
Dictionary.

The Individual and International Governance
This is not a very easy read,
but it is written specifically about Scouting and citizenship. The sections on
citizenship in the world are further down in the article.
