From the Director:
Welcome to the
MTSU Agribusiness and Agriscience (ABAS) website. If you are a current student,
welcome back! If you are a prospective student, please look over the website,
but do not hesitate to contact us directly if you have questions or need
information.
Our faculty and
staff are highly trained and dedicated to meeting the needs of our students.
Consider these points:
|

|
The ABAS curriculum is scientifically based, rigorous,
but above all, practical, with high priority given to experiential
(hands-on) learning.
|
|

|
The Farm Laboratories, with over eight hundred acres, a
dairy operation, beef herd, swine unit, greenhouse and dairy processing
unit is a key element in assuring that our students will leave MTSU
with exactly the skills that employers are looking for. The recent
acquisition of an additional farm will provide our students the
experience of observing and becoming involved with the building of a new
dairy / beef operation. For more information, go to:
http://www.mtsu.edu/~farmlabs
|
|

|
The ABAS Horse program is strong and getting stronger.
For details, go directly to:
http://www.mtsu.edu/~horsesci/
|
|

|
ABAS remains dedicated to assuring that our students have
the direct contact with faculty and staff that is needed for the best
educational opportunity.
|
|

|
While attending MTSU, students in ABAS will have the
opportunity to becoming involved with the latest developments in
agriculture. The list is impressive, including alternative fuels, food
safety, viticulture, organic foods, international agriculture, animal
health and welfare, the use of biotechnology in animal and crop
production, and the trend towards “outdoor rooms,” with new views
towards landscape design, nursery and garden centers. |
Please do
not hesitate to contact me if you have questions.
