The Developmental Studies Math Lab, located in SAG 202, offers viewing
facilities for DSPM 0700--Basic Mathematics, DSPM 0800--Elementary
Algebra, and DSPM 0850--Intermediate Algebra videos that go along with the
textbooks.
The lab has VHS tapes that correspond to the textbook Basic College
Mathematics, 4th Ed. To go along with the textbook Elementary and Intermediate
Algebra: Graphs and Models, 2nd Ed., the lab has CDs and VHS tapes. The
material on CD is the same as on the VHS tapes. By having CDs and VHS
tapes available it increases the available video viewing facilities in the lab.
The student can check-out a VHS tape or CD which corresponds to the section of the
text being studied for use in the lab. While viewing the video, the student should open his/her text to the proper
section AND be ready to take notes from the video, just as if he/she were in a
class.
Remember: No one cares about the number of times the video is rewound! If the
student brings in a blank VHS tape, then he/she may copy the VHS tape and
take it home to view. We do not have CD burners, so no copies of the CDs
can be made, but the material on the CDs is the same as on the VHS tapes.
If the topic is still confusing, try another resource such as the computers or tutoring.
