Scholarly travel includes:Travel to the US on the Equal Opportunities Council scholarship (June 1986 to May 1989). Schloarship award resulted in completion of Ph.D. in May 1989; Travel to South Africa from US in July 1995 as part of an MTSU grant to make initial contacts with South African research organizations that would expedite squatter settlement research in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa; Travel to South Africa from US in July 1997 with a group of 10 American students on a Geography field trip; Travel to South Africa and Swaziland from US in June 1998 with a group of 12 American students on a Geography field trip; Travel to India and Nepal from US in May-June 1999 with a group of 16 American students on a Geography field trip; Travel to Australia from US in June 2000 with a group of 11 American students on a Geography field trip.

Non-Scholarly travel includes: Family vacations to Europe from South Africa in December 1970 and June 1976; Family vacation to South Africa and India from US in June-July 1994;
