Admission Requirements
To be considered for unconditional admission into the program, you must meet the following requirements: 1. An application to the graduate department must be received before March 1st for fall enrollment or October 1st for spring enrollment. An online application form can be found here. An application fee of $25 must be paid along with the application. For online applications, this fee is $30 and may be paid via Visa or MasterCard. 2. Transcripts from each college or university previously attended must be sent to the department. A cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 is required for unconditional admission. 3. You must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and have your scores sent to the department. A minimum GRE score of 450 on either the quantitative or analytical section is required. No test other than the GRE will be accepted. 4. International applicants must also take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the University of Michigan English Proficiency Exam (UMELI). To be accepted, the applicant must have a minimum score of 195 on the computer-based TOEFL, 525 on the paper-based TOEFL, or 85 on the UMELI. 5. At least three (3) letters of recommendation must be provided. To find forms for these letters, click here. 6. Registration is not allowed until you are verified to have had proof of two (2) doses of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. The appropriate form can be found here. 7. There are a number of prerequisites that are are required for the program. A list of these prerequisites can be found in the program curriculum. Note that these classes can be taken as coursework during the program and are not required for admission.
