Michael B. Hein, Ph.D.
Dr. Hein (Ph.D., Georgia Institute of Technology, 1990) is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). He has taught in several areas of Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology, Research Design, and Statistics. He is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the American Psychological Society (APS), and the Southeastern Psychological Association (SEPA). His research interests are leadership, training, group processes, individual differences (abilities, personality, perceptions, life history), the determinants of skilled task performance, and organizational climate/culture. He has presented 46 papers in professional conventions and meetings. He has published articles in Leadership Quarterly, the Journal of Personality, Group Dynamics, and the Journal of Applied Social Psychology and has co-authored book chapters in The Biodata Handbook and on the effectiveness measurement of knowledge work teams. He has also served as a reviewer for Human Factors and currently serves as a reviewer for Human Resource Development Quarterly. Dr. Hein has consulted with industry on projects concerning job analysis, employee survey, management development, training, employee selection through ability testing and life history information (biodata), performance appraisal, and staffing requirements. Some of his past clients include Toshiba, Jack Daniel's, Eaton, Square-D, Clopay, Murfreesboro Police Department, Home Depot, Cracker Barrel, First Tennessee Bank, Calspan, Ingram Books, and the Georgia Ports Authority.
