Job Analysis and Performance Appraisal
One semester, students participated in a job analysis project with the Murfreesboro Fire Department. The city's rapid growth is placing new demands on the Fire Department. In response to this, the Fire Chief and City Planners are considering new ways for the Department to better serve the public. I/O students assisted by researching ways that Fire Department jobs could be redesigned.
Since the Fire Department is also growing rapidly, selection has become a more important issue. Some students in the class examined the physical ability test used by the department for the selection of personnel. A content validation was completed based on information obtained in interviews, surveys, and statistics. Suggestions were provided to the Department based on the results.
The job analysis class has also done projects at places such as Providence Christian Academy in Murfreesboro and Doctor's Transcription Services in Nashville.
