Resources Available to Students

There are many resources available for our graduate students to use at MTSU.  Prime among those is the Center for Organizational and Human Resource Effectiveness.  COHRE serves as a high-profile avenue for creating consulting partnerships between the business world and the students and faculty of our I/O program.  COHRE helps connect our students to multiple applied experiences that build both their skills and their resume.

The Graduate Multimedia Center, which opened in 1997, is where students can use the latest technology to develop materials for their classes and projects. Digital cameras, optical scanners, video cameras and modern computers are available for student use. The center offers the latest software for designing presentations, building web pages, and creating professional computer graphics. An assistant is available to orient you with the equipment. Additionally, special workshops are held, free of charge, to teach students how to use various software packages.Take a tour of the James E. Walker Library

MTSU is home to a state-of-the-art library, which opened in 1999. The library has plenty of quiet spaces to study, and in addition to the many desktop computers available for you to use, you can also check out a laptop computer to take with you to one of the study carrels. From the library website, you can check to see if the book you need is available, and you can access many journal articles and other research resources.

The Psychology Department has a computer lab located in Peck Hall that gives our graduate students access to standard software packages, as well as specialized statistical analysis software (such as SPSS and SAS). Other labs are available throughout campus, such as in the library or the Business and Aerospace building (BAS). The computer lab in the BAS is open 24 hours for your convenience.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible, among other things, for providing students with their e-mail accounts. Once you register, an email account is automatically generated for you, all you need to do is activate it. OIT is also in charge of WebMT, which is a secure site that allows students to do things such as register for classes and check course offerings online.

We now have a new, beautiful multi-million dollar recreational facility at MTSU. With this on campus, there is no need to join a health club. The Rec Center has something for everyone! The 8000+ square foot pool has a one-meter diving board and a 90-foot waterslide! Don't like the water? There is also a rock climbing wall, an indoor track, six racquetball courts, six full-sized basketball courts, indoor soccer, tons of exercise machines and a large weight room. The basketball courts can also be used for badminton and volleyball. There are numerous classes and programs available. Everything from Aerobics and Intramurals to a mentoring program so you don't have to work out alone.

Also, the I/O Department at MTSU has strong ties with the HR community in Middle Tennessee. As a member of the I/O program, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience with professionals currently working in the HR field. Click here for information about HR organizations you can be a part of while you are a student at MTSU.
