1998 Study:

In 1998, MTSU faculty were surveyed about their general feelings and beliefs related to instructional technology; their frequency of use of various instructional technology applications and the perceived impact of these applications on good teaching practices; and their projected future use of instructional technology applications.

A four-page, four-part questionnaire was the survey instrument used in the study.  It was completed and returned by over 35% of  MTSU full-time faculty.

The 1998 results of the faculty survey were presented at Syllabus 98 and ICTE 98. General comments from the faculty offer more detailed insight to their perceptions about the use of instructional technology. Proceedings papers and a slide show presentation detail the methods used in the study, the results, and the major findings.

2000 Study:

In 2000, MTSU faculty were again surveyed about their perceptions of instructional technology.  The original questionnaire was revised to reflect newer applications of instructional technology (i.e. more web-based applications) and administered using the same methodology.  Twenty-three percent of full-time faculty completed and returned the survey.  The  2001 results of this follow-up study were presented at the Mid-South Technology Conference, TN Higher Education IT Symposium 2001, and Syllabus 2001. General comments from the faculty offer more detailed insight to their perceptions about the use of instructional technology. Proceedings papers and a slide show presentation detail the methods used in the study, the results, and the major findings.
