Project Overview:
Media, individuals, and social institutions all influence one another. The
AMSI Research Project represents an ongoing exploration of some of the processes
by which this influence occurs. As a student in American Media and Social Institutions,
you will receive class credit for helping collect data for the project. Doing
so will fulfill the university's requirement that American Media and Social
Institutions, being one of the university's general education courses, include
work that engages you in research.
What's required:
You may choose either of two ways to complete the project:
- Research Option
1: The Communication Research Pool. This option requires you to serve
as a subject during each of three, hour-long research sessions scheduled
from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the same week night during three consecutive
weeks. One pool will meet on thee consecutive Wednesday nights, another
will meet on three consecutive Thursday nights, and another will meet on
three consecutive Friday nights. Click the link for details, including a
schedule of research sessions.
- Research Option
2: The MTSU Poll. This option requires you to work as a telephone
interviewer during one, four-hour calling session for the MTSU Poll, a
statewide public opinion poll of randomly selected Tennessee adults. Click
the link for details, including a schedule of calling sessions.
