Welcome to the home page for JOUR 3520, Specialized Journalism, an undergraduate course in computer-assisted reporting taught by Ken Blake, Ph.D., at Middle Tennessee State University. 

Completing this course will enable students to produce news by locating, acquiring and analyzing information in popular computer formats including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.  Students also will gain key numeracy skills and learn how to conduct computer-assisted investigations within traditional "beats" including government, business, education, courts, and law enforcement. The course will emphasize discussions, demonstrations and hands-on practice. Three credits.
