Welcome to the Merit Badge Instructor's Center You will find several helpful hints and documents that will aid you in preparing for the annual MTSU Merit Badge University. MBU is held the last Saturday of February. The usual gathering place if the Tennessee Room of the James Union Building. We ask that MBU instructors report the instructor check in table by 8 AM. You will be given any last minute instructions and asked to enter the Tennessee Room to await dismissal. We hold an opening ceremony beginning at 8:45 AM with the presentation of the colors and the pledge of allegiance. Following brief housekeeping announcements, each merit badge class instructor will be called to the front of the room to gather your students. Instructor packets will be given to you as you leave. These packets have your final class roll, requirements sheets for the Scouts to return to their home troops for credit, lunch tickets, a helpful hints sheet, etc. If you would like a copy, MBU will provide you a BSA merit badge handbook. You may see those requirements online at This site offers the updated requirements and usually have worksheets and other helps at the bottom of each page.
