On the last Saturday of each February since 1991, many MTSU faculty, students, staff, and administrators
generously give up a Saturday to take part in the annual MTSU Merit Badge
University for the Boy Scouts. As a dad, Scout leader, and dean of MBU, I want
to say ... THANKS!
Here are a few examples of feedback I've received.
John, Thanks for all the work you do for the MBU. I know that we have had two scouts attend MTSU, that would not have gone to college if they had not gone to MBU.
"As this was both mine and Joseph's first MBU, I must say I was impressed. I think you have set a high standard for future MBU's to follow. The boys and adults had fun while learning and practicing skills...what more can one hope for!"
Joe from Murfreesboro "Thanks
you so much for your assistance, so we could come to your EXCELLENT Merit Badge
University. The adult training was GREAT also, and we look forward to
coming next year and many years to come. THANKS!!!!"
John from Pulaski "Thank you
for your help on Saturday. We
enjoyed it!"
Rhonda from McMinnville Anyone -- student, faculty, staff,
or administrator -- wishing to take part in next year's MBU is invited to
contact me at WMOT-FM, or email me at jhigh@comcast.net. The complete list of merit badges and their requirements are
available by clicking here. This is an excellent way to use your expertise -- and involve students AND their service organizations -- in teaching life and professional skills to these fine young people. It's an excellent way to make partnerships with future students, their families, and business and civic leaders who make up the adult leadership/volunteers of Scouting. It's only one Saturday, but it can mean a great deal to a young person! Thanks! John
