Begin by reviewing some material related to the anatomy and physiology of the thorax and
lungs.
1. Lobes of the Lungs
2. Breathing Mechanism
Then, you can concentrate on the physical assessment of the
thorax and lungs by reading information on the assessment including assessing
for AP diameter, listen to normal and abnormal
lung sounds, watching flash movies on various parts of the
physical assessment of the lungs to watch the sequence of the particular exam. Finally, you can watch a video showing an
assessment of the thorax and lungs using palpation (chest expansion not
included), percussion,
and auscultation on both the back and front of the chest and includes the lateral chest (Note: Inspection is not included on video but is a
very important part of the lung assessment).
