TOOLS:  You will need to bring to class a calculator which has the ability to complete statistical computations, the TI-83, TI-83 Plus, or TI-84 graphing calculator are good options - though they are not required.   We will use Minitab and MS Excel.   You can rent Minitab from e-acadamy.  See:  http://www.minitab.com/education/semesterrental/default.aspx

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Class attendance, preparation, and participation are required. Learning statistics is not a spectator sport. Students are encouraged to work together on problems that will not be graded. Students are expected to be honest and ethical at all times. Students with disabilities that may require assistance or accommodations should let me know as soon as possible. Students may also contact the Office of Disabled Student Services (898-2783) with questions about such services.

ATTENDANCEAttendance is expected. Attendance at tests is required. The exam dates given will not change. The only exception is if MTSU is closed (i.e. inclement weather), then the test will be rescheduled for the next scheduled class meeting. No make-up exams are given. An unexcused absence on an exam results in a grade of zero for that exam. If you miss an exam, you must contact the instructor immediately (prior to the exam is even better) to determine whether the absence is excused. If you have an excused absence, then one missed exam grade will be replaced by the final exam. (If you know of a conflict with a test date, contact the instructor immediately.)

HOMEWORK: Promptly completing homework is a crucial part of a successful experience in this class. Homework is for your benefit. Homework is assigned for every class and includes both material to be read and problems to be worked. The assignment should be completed prior to the next class period. This daily homework is not to be handed in.

HAND-IN ASSIGNMENTS: Hand-in assignments are due at the beginning of the class period on the due date. Late assignments will loose 10 percentage points per day (including weekends). You may always turn in assignments early; you can ask a secretary to put the assignments in my office box. (Also ask for the date and time you turn in the homework to be put on the paper along with the secretary's initials.)

Financial Aid/Lottery:  To retain Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship eligibility, you must earn a cumulative TELS GPA of 2.75 after 24 attempted hours and a cumulative TELS GPA of 3.0 thereafter.  A grade of C, D, F, or I in this class may negatively impact TELS eligibility.  Dropping a class after 14 days may also impact eligibility.  If you withdraw from this class and it results in an enrollment status of less than full time, you may lose eligibility for your lottery scholarship. For additional lottery scholarship rules please refer to your Lottery Statement of Understanding form, review lottery scholarship requirements on the web at
 http://scholarships.web.mtsu.edu/telsconteligibility.htm,
or contact the MTSU financial aid office at 898-2830.

ADA Statement:  If you have a disability that may require assistance of accommodations, or if you have any questions related to any accommodation for testing, note taking, reading, etc., please speak with me as soon as possible.  You may also contact the Office of Disabled Student Services (898-2783) with any questions about such services.
