 THE MTSU POLL

The MTSU Poll is a twice-yearly survey of area opinion toward major institutions and problems, support for free expression, and special emphases. Summaries, codebooks, and downloadable data files are available from the poll's website.

WHO I AM PROFESSIONALLY

I am professor of journalism and founding director of the Office of Communication Research in the College of Mass Communication at MTSU.  I am now working on the MTSU Poll and special survey research projects under a post-retirement program for senior faculty.

My research interests include support for freedom of expression, confidence in societal institutions, religion and public opinion, and the relation between talk about politics and civic participation. I travel a great deal, usually when presenting research. I have strong ties with India, Israel, France, and Britain. To find out more about my professional life, look at my biography and vita. And take a peak at my photo gallery.
