2) On Monday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m., the Seigenthaler Chair of First Amendment Studies  will sponsor a panel discussion on "Covering the Death Penalty" in the State Farm Auditorium of the Business and Aerospace Building.

Identify yourself to our graduate assistant, Harry (Huang Xinchai); he will check the roll. You'll receive 10 extra points. 

Panelists will include:

• Ken Armstrong of the Chicago Tribune, who was coauthor of a five-part series exposing problems with the system led to a moratorium on executions in Illinois.
• Mike Tolson of the Houston Chronicle, who recently worked on a four-part highly regarded series on the death penalty in Texas.
• Sara Rimer, national affairs correspondent for the New York Times, who for the last year has written numerous stories on the death penalty in Texas, Virginia, and Florida.
• Frank Green, who covers prisons and the death penalty, for the Richmond Times-Dispatch and has written about the death penalty for many years.

The panel will be moderated by David Von Drehle, a national affairs correspondent for the Washington Post, who is the author of The Lowest of the Dead, a critically acclaimed study of the death penalty in Florida.
