ORCO 3500 Innovation and Communication. Three credits.
Prerequisites: Junior standing or permission or instructor. Organizational
communication and its relationship to power and influence, leadership, corporate
culture, diversity, change, and innovation. Includes an analysis of the impact
of communication on employees, stakeholders, and public policy.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
 | Identify and analyze leadership communication strategies and
organizational culture during times of innovation. |
 | Analyze and criticize past and current policies and
practices dealing with innovation and communication in organizations; analyze
the role of technology in the organizational innovation process. |
 | Collaborate in groups to plan communication objectives and strategies
for specific organizations as well as evaluate the effects of communication
strategies. |
Assignments include an analysis of leadership and corporate
culture in an organization; plans for employee communication and for employee
orientation; and an ADA assessment
of MTSU.
