The procedure to calculate Best Subsets Regression would be very long and tedious to do by hand, so it is not advisable to try without the aide of a statistical software package like Minitab. Unfortunately Microsoft Excel does not have a pre-programmed function to do this. Although, it is possible to develop a user defined function that would be able to perform Best Subsets Regression in Excel, that topic will not be covered in this tutorial. As a result we will only examine the procedure using Minitab.
