Welcome to the Middle Tennessee Writing Project.

The Middle Tennessee Writing Project (MTWP) is a professional development program for teachers, K-college and across the disciplines, who wish to improve writing instruction.  It offers teachers the opportunity to explore new and effective approaches to teaching writing and to theorize their own effective methods.  MTWP is one of 185 sites of the National Writing Project (NWP), and only the second NWP site in Tennessee.

The mission of the MTWP is to improve writing and learning in  the Nation's schools, specifically Middle Tennessee's schools. The goal is to promote effective writing instruction through a teachers-teaching-teachers professional development model. This model recognizes the importance of teacher knowledge, expertise, and leadership.
