Dear: Student
This letter includes details for fingerprinting and background search information for next semester. Tennessee law requires all persons working in a child care environment; teachers, care givers, student interns, tutors, and after school workers; to submit a fingerprint and background search before entering the school environment
The State of Tennessee has contracted with "Cogent" to provide the fingerprinting and background search
1. MTSU students may call 877 862 2425 or use www.tennessee.cogentid.com for scheduling an appointment.
2. MTSU students must pay prior to the appointment by using the www.tennessee.cogentid.com.
3. The fingerprinting and background search will not be performed if the MTSU student does not have a receipt or confirmation from "Cogent".
Information needed for the fingerprinting and background search:
1. ORI number for MTSU is TNCC75022
2. Transition Type for MTSU is DP;
3. Location for "Cogent" representative, www.tennessee.cogentid.com;
4. Social Security Card; and
5. Student Identification.
6. You will not receive any paperwork from “Cogent”, TBI, or FBI. The results are routed directly to MTSU.

Fingerprinting and Background Procedure for the following:
Metro-Davidson County
MTSU field placement students need to complete and submit all required paperwork for substitute teaching to the Metro-Davidson county school district substitute office prior to field placement. Please note that completed application materials include the on-line application, TB skin test results, fingerprinting, two professional reference letters, and official transcripts. More information may be obtained at www.mnps.org under “Working in MNPS.”
