Comprehensive Examinations
The exam is an assessment of your ability to integrate theory, dispositions,
and practice. As such, each exam question encompasses multiple concepts and
applications.
- Comps are taken in your last semester and only if you are seeking a
degree.
- Please call the departmental secretary to register for comps in the first month
of your last semester.
- Email keb AFTER you have registered for comps.
- If you do not call in the first month, you will not be allowed
to take comprehensive exams.
- Graduation will be delayed one semester and you must register for
1 credit in that semester.
- Access to the bank of questions used for comps is available from
http://mtsu32.mtsu.edu:11485/CompExam/MEDLS.htm
- After January 2010, use this bank of questions:
http://www.mtsu.edu/~kpatten1/CompExamMEDLSrev09.htm
- All questions in the bank are possible on the comprehensive exam. Three to
four questions from the bank will be included on the exam.
- The questions are broad and based on elements from several courses. Keep
all of your materials from Libs 6110, 6200, and 6130 for study. Other courses
are included in the questions and you will need to review the texts for those
as well. The purpose of the examination is to judge if you can function as a
modern librarian and articulate the needs and vision of the modern school
information center.
- You can bring a thesaurus / dictionary to the exam. Bring pencils and
pens. You are allowed to write in pencil for Lib Sci since crossouts count
against you.
- The exam is Pass/Fail
