MTSU Aerospace had been nationally accredited
since 1992. The Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) has
accredited all five of the Aerospace concentrations!

Flight Labs
Students should
download and print off the entire packet,
but only sign and return the first two pages to the Aerospace Department
Office. They must submit a hard copy no later than October 1, 2008 in
order to be considered for the spring 2009 semester.
Mr. Nate Callender is a native
Tennessean having lived in West Tennessee most of his life. His
experience in aviation began with glider training in Colorado
Springs, CO in 1995. He received his private pilot’s certificate
in 1998 in Murfreesboro, TN while attending MTSU. Prior to
graduation he gained experience in a wide spectrum of aviation
activities to include an internship with the Shelbyville
Airport, a line service position with the Murfreesboro Municipal
Airport, and an aircraft maintenance assistant position with the
MTSU Flight School Maintenance program.
After graduating in 1999 with a B.S. in Aerospace with minors in
Mathematics and Engineering Technology, he entered the
University of Tennessee Space Institute’s (UTSI) Aviation
Systems Masters program in Tullahoma, TN. Upon completion of all
coursework, he accepted an aerospace engineering position with
Semcor Aerospace as a flight test engineer contracted to the
United States Army Technical Test Center in Fort Rucker, AL. As
an engineer assigned to the Attack Division, he participated in
weapons, engine, and rotor systems tests as well as
airworthiness programs. His primary aircraft was the AH-64A/D
Apache Attack Helicopter; however, he also participated in tests
of the MH-6 Mission Enhanced Little Bird and the CH-47 Chinook.
In 2001 Mr. Callender accepted a position in the Mathematics
Department of Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC). During
his time at DSCC, he completed his M.S. from UTSI as well as 21
hours of graduate Mathematics at MTSU and the University of
Memphis. In August of 2005 Mr. Callender accepted the position
of Assistant Professor of Aerospace at MTSU. He is working
towards a Ph.D. in Engineering Science at UTSI. He currently
lives in Murfreesboro with his wife, Sarah, and children, Eli
and Ian.
