Rayola Sue Bagwell,
Murfreesboro,
Tennessee
Rayola Sue Bagwell was born in Murfreesboro, on November 21, 1943,
graduated from Central High School in 1961 and was voted “Girl Most
Likely to Succeed.” She received a B.S. in Elementary Education from
MTSU in 1965 and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from MTSU in
1969. Her entire 34 year career, 1965-1998, was devoted to teaching
third grade at Bellwood Elementary School in Murfreesboro. Her
professional affiliations included NEA, TEA, MEA, AAK and AAUW. She was
an active member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the
Beasley Humane Society. She was chosen Bellwood’s Outstanding Educator
in 1991 and was listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 1992.

Carolyn Johnson,
Germantown,
Tennessee
Mrs. Carolyn Johnson has indeed made an outstanding contribution in the
field of elementary education. Her bright smile, her love for her
students, their families and her enthusiasm for life make her a perfect
addition to the Tennessee Teachers Hall of Fame. Mrs. Johnson was the
recipient of the City of Germantown Mayor’s Award of Merit and the
Historic Title of Tennessee Volunteer, both in 1991, and an honorary
life membership in the Tennessee PTA in 1998.

Linnie McMillan has made a lasting impression on hundreds of students
throughout her teaching career. She is always ready to help, motivate,
and encourage not only her students, but also her colleagues.
