Curriculum Integration Grant
The Academic Issues Subcommittee offers summer grants for projects to
integrate the experiences and perspectives of women into the curriculum.
Three grants, $1800 each, are available and will be awarded in spring
and intended for use in the summer of that year. Tenured or tenure-track
faculty members who wish to pursue one of the following projects are
eligible:
- revision of a
course
- revision of a
general education course for Study Abroad program
- creation of a new
course
-
re-conceptualization of a current minor
- creation of a new
minor
Applicants should send
seven (7) completed grant proposals (original and six copies) to Samantha
Cantrell, Research and Sponsored Programs, PO Box 124. Proposals will be
reviewed by an awards committee composed of faculty serving on the Academic
Issues Subcommittee of the President's Commission on the Status of Women.
The deadline for submission of proposals is Friday, February 1, 2008.
Grant proposals should
include the following: (1) completed grant application form; (2) brief
description of project; (3) statement of goals and objectives; (4) a
timeline for completion and implementation of the project (for instance,
those proposing a new course should indicate when the course would be
offered to students; similarly, those proposing the creation of a minor
should indicate when that minor will be available to students); (5) a
tentative bibliography including materials on the theories and methods of
curriculum integration; and (6) a curriculum vitae. Also, faculty members
who wish to revise courses or minors should state how their course/minor
will change as a result of the revisions. Proposals often incorporate
innovative teaching techniques and integrate women's concerns with issues of
race/ethnicity, class and sexual orientation. Priority will be given to
projects that can be implemented within two years.
Grant recipients will
be required to present the completed project at the Fall Commission meeting
to be held at the beginning of each Fall semester. Recipients also will be
required to provide the committee with a copy of the finished syllabus,
course proposal, minor proposal, or revised minor at the Fall meeting.
Grant inquiries should
be directed to Samantha Cantrell at 494-8751 (scantrel@mtsu.edu).
