MTSU Childcare Consortium
The Adult Services Center, the Association
of Faculty Women (AFAW), and the Administrative Services
Office have been working on improving the childcare
offerings at MTSU for some time now. We are, therefore,
proud to announce the creation of the MTSU Childcare
Consortium that will provide quality childcare for MTSU
students at a reasonable cost.
The MTSU Childcare Consortium consists of
the MTSU Child Care Lab, the Child Development Center Lab
and the Evening Extended School Program
(EESP).
Together, through these three facilities, MTSU
students can
find childcare for their children-infants,
toddlers, and pre-schoolers during the daytime as well as
during evening classes.
Students enrolled in evening classes may
take their school-age children to the EESP during their
classes and when they are using the library for research and
studying.
If you have an infant or toddler under three years of age:
The Child Development Center Lab, located
in the Fairview Building, has limited spaces in their early
childhood development program. Operating only five hours per
week and only twelve weeks of the semester, the program
takes children from 12 months to three years of age and
meets
2.5 hours a day two days per week. If this
schedule meets your childcare needs, contact Dr. Carol
Detmer at (615) 898-2198 for details.
If you have a three or four year old:
The MTSU Child Care Lab, in the Womack
Lane Apartments on Homecoming Circle, serves 24 children on
a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule and 24 other children on
a Tuesday-Thursday schedule during the academic year.
Full week care is only available in the
summer months. This three-star rated facility provides an
excellent care option for students enrolled on a part-time
schedule. Children must be within one month of their third
birthday and potty trained. If this facility will work for
your child, contact Nancy James at (615) 898-2970 for
details.
*If you have a school-age child and **are
taking evening classes:* The Evening Extended School Program
(EESP) provides evening care for school-age children
(kindergarten through 8th grade) at the Pittard Campus
School, located on Lytle St. They operate from 3:30 pm until
9:30 pm for students enrolled in evening classes and
studying at the library.
To enroll your child for this evening
care, contact Jennifer Stanley at
(615) 904-8220.
If you have a school-age child:
There are many days during the year when MTSU classes meet, but
school-age children have a school holiday or a snow day. Kids R Kids
can take school-age children up to age 12 on these holidays if you
have pre-registered for the holiday care and provided a copy of your
child's immunization records in advance. If you want to sign up for
this holiday care, contact Kids R Kids at (615) 907-5437 for
details.
If you are taking evening classes:
