The
Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP), which has state and
national programs, was initiated in 1986 by the Federal Transit
Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation. RTAP
provides, on national and state levels, programs that provide
a wide variety of training and technical assistance services
to rural transit professionals from coast to coast. States
are funded to establish their own RTAP program, and the state
programs have access to services offered from the national
RTAP program.

The state
RTAP program provides access to workshops and training sessions
on rural transit operations and management topics. The
National Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP) offers
training materials, technical assistance, and it keeps you
in touch with the industry through conferences and publications.
The Tennessee
RTAP program is located at Middle Tennessee State University
in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and is one of the services provided
by the Tennessee Transit Training Center.
